The Tracer Stone planted by Agent Splash Winterfall in his last mission enabled the recovery of the mysterious black box. Its contents had been claimed by Spike, but there remained an important clue. It was marked by a black star inside two white circles surrounded by a series of spokes, the family crest of King Gerard. The agents D. B. Gengar and Splash were sent to investigate Mausoleum 34 in the Necropolis, the final resting place of the Gerard lineage.
The agents, assisted by the mortician Lackluster Percival, infiltrated the twisted Gerard family tomb in search of answers. What they found was a skeleton claiming to be Frederick Gerard, a grandson of King Gerard who had been trapped in his grave for over three hundred years. The agents freed most of Frederick (minus his arms and torso), and acquired the Gerard family Tome of Inventory.
Frederick provided the agency research staff with the ciphers necessary to decrypt the book’s contents. The investigation is still ongoing, however preliminary findings indicate that the black box originally contained a sword called Shadow’s Play.
